Mixed Martial Arts Cage Training

Adrenaline

It can pump you up, but adrenaline can also wear you down. If you pull off 50% of what you can do in class when you fight in the cage, you will be having a good day.

You sometimes hear after a fight, "Man, I would never have gotten caught in something like that in training!" Or, "When I was up against the fence, I couldn't move." By always practicing in a cage, you will get used to the cage! When you get used to the cage, you will perform better in the cage.

Imagine scaling a rock wall for the first time. You have to pick a path with the most nooks and crannies for proper hand and foot placement. After many times scaling the same rock wall, you might find better ways to accomplish your mission. After 500 times up the same wall, you could probably do it blindfolded, with extreme confidence, and without those major adrenaline surges.

After training in the cage a few hundred times, when you finally step in a cage for real, your previous training will kick in, and you will be more confident which helps control adrenaline, therefore enhancing your performance!
